Mark Foster
Chief Executive Officer

Mark Foster is a technology and business executive with more than 25 years of experience building and commercializing emerging technologies. Throughout his career, he has led organizations spanning engineering, operations, product management, customer success, sales, and business development, transforming innovative technologies into scalable business solutions across multiple industries.

At UScellular, Mark led the creation of the company's wholesale IoT business, developing the connectivity architecture that today supports millions of devices across utility and industrial markets. Drawing on a career of building high-performing organizations and bringing new technologies to market, Mark founded Carrier5 to provide utilities with the carrier-grade engineering organization needed to operate next-generation communications networks.

Mike Irizarry Ph.D.
Chief Technology Advisor

Mike Irizarry is one of the wireless industry's most accomplished technology executives, bringing more than 30 years of leadership experience shaping the evolution of carrier networks. Throughout his career, he has led technology strategy, network engineering, operations, and information technology organizations for Bell Atlantic Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and UScellular, culminating as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology & Information Officer at UScellular.

Recognized throughout the industry for his technical leadership, Mike has served on numerous technology boards, standards organizations, and advisory councils helping define the future of wireless communications. A Senior Member of both IEEE and ACM, he has contributed to industry initiatives through organizations including the 6G Alliance and ATIS while advising emerging technology companies and serving on corporate boards.

At Carrier5, Mike applies decades of carrier-grade engineering and operational leadership to help utilities build and operate resilient communications networks with the reliability, discipline, and scalability of a national wireless carrier.

John Hughes
Chief Utility Advisor

John brings more than 37 years of leadership experience designing and operating mission-critical utility communications networks. During his career at Ameren, he led the design and implementation of the company's enterprise-wide MPLS fiber network and played a key role in the development of its private LTE program, helping advance the utility from successful use case pilots to full-scale deployment.

John is a recognized leader within the utility communications industry, having served as Chair of EPRI's Information and Communications Technology Program Development Unit (ICT PDU), Vice Chair and Board Member of the Utility Broadband Alliance (UBBA), and a utility advisor to UScellular. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Webster University.
